Domain 1: Planning and Preparing
Domain 1 focuses on the school library media specialist's ability to
understand what materials and content is suitable for the students of the
school for enjoyment as well as to enhance the curriculum of the library
program and other subject areas. This document shows a first grade and
twelfth grade information literacy curriculum's scope and sequence and how it
relates to problem-solving models. (Click here for the Scope and Sequence
document.) This document shows how information literacy lessons can be
seamlessly added to a ninth grade science curriculum. (Click here for the
Integration document.)
Another aspect of this domain is knowing how students at different grade
levels have resources that could be used along with their content. This
document explores the addition of several types of resources (including fiction,
nonfiction, poetry, and audiovisual) across the spectrum of students
(elementary, middle school, and high school). (Click here for the Multi-Age
resource lesson.)
